PE Curriculum

We recognise the importance of providing all children with a broad and balanced curriculum which is engaging and encompasses all aspects of our vision and values.

We embrace the Get Set 4 PE scheme to ensure a balanced physical education is delivered that gives access to a variety of different sports, games and physical activities. We are passionate about promoting wellbeing and equipping our pupils with strategies and techniques to build emotional resilience.

PE at Blakesley CE is taught by a mixture of children’s class teachers and a specialist PE coach. When possible, qualified coaches from local sports clubs are invited into school. This is important as this helps to build links with these clubs and further encourages children to take part in sports outside of school.

Clubs

We like to provide as many different opportunities as possible for children to be active in different ways. We offer a Multi Sports Club for Reception children, Gymnastics club before school on Wednesdays, Football club at a Wednesday lunchtime and a very popular Basketball club on a Friday. We often vary the provision termly so we can cater for a wide range of interests. Last term our Trickers club was very popular.

Competitions

Every year we enter as many competitions as we can. We are very proud of the fact that by the end of their time in Blakesley CE every child will have represented our school at least once in a sporting event/competition.

Sports Crew

We are also proud of the fact that all our Y6 pupils are trained as sports leaders. This enables them to organise and run fun playground games at breaks and lunchtimes for all of our pupils.
