On Friday 27th January, we had a fruit tuck shop. All the children brought in 20p to purchase a variety of fruit slices and smoothies. The children got a price list and were able to calculate how much money to spend. It was lovely to give the children the opportunity to use maths in a real-life setting. It allowed the children to make decisions about what they spent as well as practising their addition and subtraction to 20p.
Understanding money is so important and with the rise in contactless cards, children are getting less experience of making their own transactions using coins.
